Befriending Week Celebrations
The celebrations continues as we join Befriending Networks in sharing and celebrating ten years of all things befriending.
We are delighted and, honoured that so many people support us. Thank you for all that you bring to the lives of the children and young people we support.

Emma Harper MSP – Representing South Scotland has submitted a Motion to the Scottish Parliament to mark our 25th Anniversary, as follows:
“That the Parliament congratulates the Dumfries & Galloway Befriending Project, based in Dumfries, which recently celebrated 25 years since its founding in 1997, with a fabulous reception at The Usual Place in Dumfries which was attending by Befrienders and Befriendees; understands that the organisation supports and enriches the lives of young people aged 8 – 18 with the aims of diverting young people from statutory measures of care and promoting their well-being; further understands that the Befriending Project is an early intervention service that recruits, trains, and supports volunteer adult Befrienders who are matched one-to-one with a young person and that young person referred to the Project may be carers who are living in challenging and difficult circumstances, are geographically or socially isolated, have been affected by bulling or other problems at school, or by the lifestyle of other family members; thanks the many volunteer befrienders for their dedication to the welfare and happiness of young people and the Befriending Project many more years of making an important difference to the lives of young people the length and breadth of Dumfries & Galloway, and indeed thanks other similar befriending services from across Scotland for the invaluable contribution they make to their respective communities.”
