Investing in Volunteers (IiV) is the UK quality standard for all organisations which involve volunteers.  D&G Befriending Project is keen to test itself against the standard and where possible improve upon how we manage and support our befrienders – our greatest asset.

There are six steps to the process (Workshop; Self-Assessment; Development Plan; Assessment Visit; Quality Assurance and Award of IiV).  The Workshop was held on 18 February and involved staff, volunteer befrienders and a volunteer trustee. Our assessor, Katy Penman, facilitated the session.  We are at the Self-assessment stage now.

The IiV standard has nine indicators to be examined – Policies; Resources; Diversity;  Roles; Safety;  Recruitment; Induction; Support and Recognition.  We will keep you posted as to our progress along the way.
