Nickie is currently the Education Safeguarding Manager and the link between the Befriending Project and Education.  She will liaise with the team to highlight up and coming safeguarding and child protection courses as well as checking polices, advising on the safe recruitment of befrienders and make the team of befrienders aware of safeguarding and CP issues which may therefore impact on the life of a young person.

As a former pupil support teacher in a local secondary school, I saw the value in the charity in providing a role of a trusted adult in the life of a child or young person.  Sometimes our children need someone just for them, not a family member or a teacher but someone for them that they can talk with and go out and about with.  This charity allows that to happen.
