Young adult, older, in between?
Dumfries and Galloway Befriending Project is currently looking for volunteer befrienders throughout Wigtownshire. If you like the idea of making a difference in the life of a young person and you have a couple of spare hours a week, please consider getting in touch.
Your time and commitment could be invaluable to a young person (aged between 8 and 18) experiencing difficulties at home, in school or in the community. Full training is given and all expenses are paid. We hope to start befriending training in Wigtownshire by mid- November. If you would like to know more, please email fiona@befriending.org.
Thank you.
“Befriending a young person is what I call a Pooh and Piglet role, where at times the “P” roles seem to change. Being a befriender is so rewarding in so many ways.
Probably a role where, without realising it, the befriender gets more, much more, in relation to personal development and satisfaction, than from other voluntary roles.
Many a young person needs an old grump in their life. Many an old grump needs a young person in their life. Well worth taking a pace forward for.”
