Douglas Is Top Of The World

“I had the great honour of joining Doug on the very last hike of his 93 Islands Challenge.  Over 30 family and friends climbed to the top of Goatfell on the Isle of Arran (2867 feet!) on Saturday 4 September – and the joy on Doug’s face was wonderful to see.

Although a bit misty on top – and the midges were out in force at the peak! – nothing could take away from the wonderful achievement of our recently retired befriender of 20 years and new trustee.  His efforts raised the fantastic sum of around £17,000 which is split between three charities  – Mary’s MealsRotary International and Dumfries and Galloway Befriending Project.

The sun shone for Doug and his party of about 70 who enjoyed  the weekend  on a  beautiful island – witnessing a tremendous conclusion to his challenge.  I wonder what he is thinking about doing next? Well done Doug.” Alex Dickson (D&G Befriending Project Manager)
